Tamiya’s 1/48 F4D-1 Skyray

Tamiya’s Skyray kit builds into a great looking model of the uniquely shaped naval jet from the 1950s. The model was built mostly out of the box, with Eduard photoetched belts and some aftermarket decals being used. The model was painted in Tamiya white, and Vallejo Model Air Light Gull Gray.

I highly recommend this kit to modeler’s of any experience level!

  • Wow! That’s really sharp.

  • Thanks!

  • Beautiful work! Flight Journal had an article on the “Ford” some time ago. Pilots loved it as they could climb to altitude quick and easily beat their competitor to the club, too. I seem to recall building a Hawk kit of it (in South Dakota in the early 1960s) before we concerned ourselves with paint and such, so we could fly around the backyard. We did the last anyway…

  • Thanks!
