Forum member Dale Hutchinson (Hutch) shared his excellent work on this 1/72 Gooney Bird. Looks great, Hutch!
I was looking at my stash and this Italeri C-47 caught my eye. Always one of my favorite aircraft. I had one when I was a kid and decided to put this together. I was pleasantly surprised with the fit of this kit. I discovered little flash, but saw the usual soft Italeri plastic. Not usually a problem until one is working with the fine pieces, but still I had no real problems.
The decals were old, so I used some of the tricks mentioned on this site. I sprayed them with Future and they held up well. Decals were a little thick, but acceptable. D-Day markings were painted on. One thing I liked about the Italeri instructions is that they gave the measurements for the D-Day markings which took a lot of the math research out of it….a nice touch.
All-in-all a fun build of an old classic. this kit still holds up well, considering its age. Only detraction was some of the clear parts…very thick and finicky.
