Agape forum member Honza Knetl share’s his great looking build of this D-520 in Bulgarian markings, as well as some history of the aircraft. Great work, Honza!
The model is easy to build, contains no big problems.
The original of my model was in service in Royal Bulgarian Air Force (Въздушните на негово величество войски – Văzdushnite na negovo velichestvo vojski), flown by polkovnik Vasil Vălkov (полковник Васил Вълков), commander of 6th Fighter Group (6-и изтребителен полк – shesti iztrebitelen polk). In time when it was so camouflaged (year 1944, before 9th September) it was based in airfield Marno Pole (Марно поле) near Karlovo (Карлово).
One small note – Book Български изтребители / Bulgarian fighters (by Димитър Недялков / Dimităr Nedialkov) states that this plane was flown by kapitan Nikolai Boshnakov (капитан Николай Бошнаков), commander of 2/6 Fighter Orliak (2/6 изтребителен орляк) in December 1943.
