Readers’ Gallery: Gil Hodges 1/48 Monogram F-4C

Agape forum member Gil Hodges (g.hodges) shared these photos of his striking F-4C. Great work Gil- those stripes are cool!

This is the Monogram 1/48 kit with the IPMS Phoenix Nationals decals by Two Bobs. The stripes are painted and the intake covers are Koster vac parts. I managed to fit a True Details resin cockpit into the model.

  1. Sweet! Since I was born at Mountain Home AFB (before the WWII buildings were replaced, including the hospital), I have a soft spot for the tenant unit, 366th Wing “Gunfighters”. This was from their DaNang period… Apparently, they became the “Gunfighters” after conferring with the GE and McDonnell reps to wire the center pylon for a 20mm gunpod. I strongly suspect that “Boots” Blesse looked at the Marines’ side of the ramp, where they’d gone ahead and rewired a few of their Phantoms to carry three 20mm gunpods. (Lou Drendel’s “USMC Phantoms in Combat” has those stories.) Thanks!
