This is Tamiya’s Willys MB straight out of the box. The kit is a delight to build. It practically falls together on its own! The only short-coming is the kit decals. They are rather thick and slippery. I used several coats of Micro-Sol, and Walther’s Solv-a-set in order to get them to comply.
The kit was weathered using steps outlined in Jim Wechsler’s new book called “Building and Detailing Realistic Sherman Tanks”. I now it’s not a tank, but the steps Wechsler uses in the first build in the book translate easily to any armor-type build.
I was quite humbled when this project won first place in the “Soft Skins” category at the Magic City Flying Circus meet in Birmingham, Alabama.
