David Willis (Agape forum member Circuitrider), shares his great work on this Willys MB. Awesome stuff David!
This is Tamiya’s Willys MB straight out of the box. The kit is a delight to build. It practically falls together on its own! The only short-coming is the kit decals. They are rather thick and slippery. I used several coats of Micro-Sol, and Walther’s Solv-a-set in order to get them to comply.
The kit was weathered using steps outlined in Jim Wechsler’s new book called “Building and Detailing Realistic Sherman Tanks”. I now it’s not a tank, but the steps Wechsler uses in the first build in the book translate easily to any armor-type build.
I was quite humbled when this project won first place in the “Soft Skins” category at the Magic City Flying Circus meet in Birmingham, Alabama.
Please feel free to share your comments, positive or negative, on the build and how I might improve!
