Agapemodels.com forum member David Wise (tractorman) shares this great looking build of his Academy P-47N, and also has some wonderful testimony about this site- thank you brother. I had the pleasure of meeting David in the IPMS show in Atlanta in June 2008 (along with many other great folks!), and we enjoyed a time of fellowship, model talk and BBQ!

I found Agape after I had neck surgery. I was looking for some kit reviews and ended up here , now I won’t go away. This is a great place to spend time , good folks here. Anyway, a Fellowship Build was started- American Brutes. I looked in the stash and there sat an Academy 1/48 P-47N. I looked in the decal pile and found some nice decals, and jumped in. People complain about this kit, but it looks like a P-47N to me . There are some raised panels , but they are easy to deal with. Trim them a little and some sanding and they are fine. It has 5 shades of Alclad on it , one or 2 was as blend of 2 colors. The leading edges I mixed white alum and polished alum , gave it a nice shine .The decals are Micro Scale for a 19th FS/18th FG P-47N, flying from Le Shima in 1945.
