Airfix continues it’s comeback, re-launching it’s website. And a good looking and functional website it is too. Their store is up and running, with most of the inventory that Airfix had available before their financial troubles and eventual resuscitation by Hornby. Being a Spitfire fan, I did notice that neither of the 70th Anniversary editions are on the site.
The Airfix Club also makes a comeback appearance, and the listed benefits include a quarterly magazine, club badges, Airfix catalog, and best of all- an exclusive club edition kit. The site says it’s a Spitfire Mk. XVIe never before released. I wonder if perhaps it’s a re-boxing of the already released Spitfire Mk. IXc/XVIe with new markings. Be interesting to find out. I plan on joining, so I’ll certainly report on it when the kit arrives.
Also on the site are Humbrol paints and accessories, club directory for the UK, a section on tips and advice, and a news section.
Welcome back, Airfix! I can imagine it’s been a tough year, but we’re glad you’re on the modeling scene again.
