A few days ago I’d mentioned a couple of kit previews on Hyperscale and Aeroscale about Airfix’s new tooling Spitfire Mk. I. It’s the first release of the “new” Airfix after Hornby purchased the model companies assets after that had filed for bankruptcy. Being a Spitfire fan, I’ve been looking forward to getting my hands on the kit. The previews were positive, mentioning some great features of this kit not available on other Mk. I offerings from other manufacturers.
Though I’ve had no luck in getting one for myself (Mike- help me out! 🙂 ), Brett Green from Hyperscale has finished building his Airfix Spitfire Mk. I. He’s provided us with a very nice build report that thoroughly covers the highs and lows of the kit, and shows that the final result looks every bit a Spitfire. And as it comes with the two-bladed prop and non-blown canopy, it’s the only kit on the market that lets you build an early Spitfire right from the box.
Now if I could only get my hands on one of these kits myself……
